A 15-year-old dressed in an evil clown costume allegedly stabbed an elderly Illinois man to death less than an hour after appearing on a neighbor’s doorstep and whispering into a security camera, “I’ve been looking for you.”

Security footage captured the masked teenager approaching a home in East St. Louis, Illinois, at 9:11 p.m. Monday wearing a black-and-red clown suit. The suspect stared directly into the camera with wide eyes, delivered the threatening message, then calmly walked off the porch toward the back of the property. Lee Palmer told local media his mother was home alone when the costumed intruder appeared and lurked around their house for several minutes.

“I couldn’t believe it. He was dressed in the clown outfit,” Palmer said. “That was kind of spooky for her.” Palmer added he immediately feared the clown was “going to kill everybody in the house” after seeing the disturbing video footage that later spread across social media.

Victim Found Dead In Street

Less than one hour after the doorbell camera incident, police responded to reports of a body discovered in a nearby road just after 10 p.m. The victim, John Wesley Allen Sr., had suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the St. Clair County Coroner’s Office. Authorities quickly identified the juvenile suspect and located him at a residence where he was taken into custody without incident Tuesday morning.

Illinois State Police confirmed they are actively collecting all relevant video evidence in the case. “Video footage of the suspect dressed in a clown costume has been circulating and ISP is currently working to collect all relevant video,” the department stated. Investigators have not disclosed any possible motive or whether the teenage suspect had any prior relationship with the elderly victim.
