A prearranged fight between teenagers exploded into gunfire at a Winston-Salem park Monday morning, leaving two teenage boys dead and five others wounded in what authorities describe as a chaotic scene involving multiple shooters.
Multiple Shooters Open Fire During Arranged Fight
The violence erupted around 10 a.m. at Leinbach Park, located near a middle school in the northwest section of Winston-Salem. Police Captain Kevin Burns confirmed that a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old died at the scene from gunshot wounds. Five additional victims aged 14 to 19 sustained injuries ranging from critical to minor conditions. Four of the wounded victims are female, according to officials.
Winston-Salem Police Chief William Penn revealed that multiple individuals fired weapons during the incident. No arrests have been made, though authorities suspect some of the injured victims may have participated in the shooting. Penn could not immediately confirm whether the two deceased teens were the ones originally scheduled to fight, nor could he identify the cause of the dispute that led to the arranged confrontation.
Community Shaken By Broad Daylight Violence
Chief Penn expressed the frustration felt throughout the community. “I feel like everyone else. I’m frustrated, I’m angry, I’m sad. This didn’t have to happen,” he stated during a press conference following the shooting. The incident occurred in a suburban residential area of Winston-Salem, a city of approximately 250,000 residents historically known as the headquarters of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.
Investigation Continues As Suspects Remain At Large
The shooting represents another instance of youth violence escalating beyond control in American communities. Authorities continue investigating the circumstances that transformed a planned physical altercation into a mass shooting event. The proximity to a middle school raises additional concerns about youth safety during daylight hours in residential neighborhoods. Police urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward as they work to identify all individuals involved in the gunfire. The investigation remains active with no suspects in custody.

Who is realy to blame for all these shooting by our youth? Answer:
THE PARENTS!!!! These kids lack guidance, supervision, the respect for others resulting in turmoil in their lives. The parants should be prosecuted and placed in jail for a lengthy jail time Unfortunately the children need to be taken care of by relatives etc . .
Agree and disagree, parents yes 100% but the 13% are a lost cause
FRANCIS: I DISAGREE… First of all, we are NOT totally 100% responsible for our children’s WILD actions with guns, drugs, other friends etc… Once they reach 12, they are capable of making wiser decisions, WHY? b/c that is the age of accountability and they are supposed to be accountable at that age to know RIGHT from WRONG…
Granted, today many think that right is wrong, and it’s okay, and wrong is now righ,t and it’s okay also… How messed up is that kind of thinking????? HOW WOULD ANYONE KNOW THAT THE RELATIVES ARE ANYMORE CAPABLE OF HANDLING THESE WAYWARD KIDS????? The TRUTH of the matter is they might be worse than the actual parents. You seem to be making a lot of assumptions here without the actual FACTS!!! Comments are welcomed …
Unfortunately youth only have PARENTS the day they are conceived. Now in to many situations they are lucky to have one caring parent.
YES, you are right on target. And that is certainly unfortunate. And it’s very difficult for just ONE present parent to do all that it takes to raise a child today to be decent and respectful, b/c as we know in reality MOST ARE NOT…They have no manners, they verbal skills are lacking, most have a potty mouth (full of vulgarity) and are disrespectful to their parents and most other people. Glued to their cell phones and even sleeping with them at nite under their pillows OMG!!! Many have not only a disregard for their own lives but also for others as well…No wonder so many from 13-20 are killing people just for the sake of doing it or to get on the news… They are NOT taught RIGHT FROM WRONG and that part is the fault of the parent or parents or original caretakers…
Yes! And it’s usually the overworked mother who’s working two jobs plus trying to raise a family because the”father” was usually just the sperm donor who hit the road as soon as he heard of the conception.
“Teens,” huh. More like feral savages.
Very sad description! Each of these individuals need caring relatives & community!
AHHHHHHHHHHH, TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGING, AND THEN WHO WOULD A THUNK IT????? WARD, It seems to be getting worse each and every generation… Sad, very sad…
So sad to even read this. Where are the parents or I’ll refrain, where are the grandparents? Kids should not have access to guns but it’s a reality today. I hope all involved get help. Jesus is your ONLY HELP…
RUTH, I find that TODAY’s youth don’t know anything about JESUS… Very few seem to anyway… Usually, it’s ONLY the kids that have parents who attend churches or places of worship, or congregate with other couples in someone’s home to study, read, and pray… MANY people will tell you… “YES I BELIEVE IN GOD”… but we can’t be impressed with those words, b/c the fact of the matter is …SO DO THE DEMONS, AND THEY TREMBLE… The scriptures tell us it’s NOT enough to say (I believe in GOD). Some people believe in more than one GOD or more than one way to heaven. Actually, JESUS TOLD US…”THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO GOD THE FATHER, AND THAT IS THROUGH JESUS CHRIST HIS SON.” So, the TRUTH here is unless a person actually believes in JESUS (the son of GOD) that they can’t ever get to or be with GOD… GOD is the FATHER, JESUS WAS HIS ONLY SON, and THE HOLY SPIRIT (WE WERE TOLD), WOULD BE GIVEN TO US TO BE OUR “COMFORTER”…AND HE WOULD LEAD US INTO ALL TRUTH!!! We either believe the “truth” of the scriptures or we don’t. Perhaps you agree…
