A 36-year-old man with seven arrests in three months ripped down the American flag at a Northern California police station and attempted to set it on fire just hours after being released from jail. Wilber Geovany Orejel-Noguera was taken into custody after a sergeant from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office witnessed him lowering the flag at the South Lake Tahoe Police Department and attempting to burn it. The arrest came less than 24 hours after his release from the El Dorado County Jail in Placerville, where he had been held for possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication. Authorities had originally detained him Saturday after reports of him shooting arrows at the Y intersection, where Highway 50 meets Highway 89.

Yes, he should do at least ten years for all of his crimes; however, it happening in California, I doubt that he’ll get nothing more than a slap on the wrist. Unless, of course, the burning of the flag could go federal, as the first George Bush signed a bill that to burn the American flag is a crime; it could go to federal district court for trial. This is what I hope does happen and they give him the appropriate time in the slammer for that crime.
