Driver CREATES Amazon Package Maze Inside Home

An Amazon Flex driver in Parkland, Washington, stockpiled hundreds of undelivered packages worth approximately $20,000 in her home after allegedly marking them as undeliverable to collect additional delivery fees, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

How the Scheme Worked

Deputies discovered the operation after neighbors reported an unusual accumulation of Amazon boxes outside a residence. The driver, working as an independent contractor for Amazon Flex, would pick up packages, mark them as undeliverable in the system, then return home with the items still in her possession. Each false report allowed her to collect another batch and receive additional payment. Body camera footage captured officers uncovering hundreds of stacked boxes inside the garage, representing deliveries that never reached their destinations across Western Washington.

The suspect cooperated with investigators and claimed she lacked gas money to complete delivery routes. Instead of stopping work, she returned home with packages and picked up additional loads to continue earning income. This pattern repeated until the volume became impossible to conceal. Investigators estimate about $8,000 worth of goods remains missing. The driver claimed those items were stolen from her home, though authorities continue examining that explanation.

Victims Across Multiple Communities

Packages found at the property were addressed to residents throughout Spanaway, Tacoma, Tenino, and Olympia. Authorities believe hundreds of customers across the region never received their expected deliveries. While many recovered items were returned to Amazon, a significant portion could not be accounted for. The investigation highlights concerns about accountability in contractor-based delivery systems.

Questions About Corporate Responsibility

Amazon relies heavily on independent contractors through its Flex program, where drivers use personal vehicles for deliveries. This structure creates accountability gaps when contractors misuse the system or cause harm. The company can distance itself from liability by emphasizing drivers are independent contractors, not employees. This arrangement allows Amazon to maintain a vast delivery network while shifting risk onto individuals and communities. For Parkland neighbors, the discovery raised unsettling questions about trust in everyday delivery systems they depend on.
