A 12-year-old girl died Sunday, three days after being slammed to the ground during a violent fight with another student that erupted after school in Villa Rica, Georgia. The victim, Jada West, reportedly suffered seizures and cardiac arrest in the days following the Thursday afternoon altercation that was captured on video.
Fight Caught on Viral Video
Footage shared by the family shows a group of young teens engaged in a verbal dispute before the physical altercation escalated between two girls. The video captures one girl being violently thrown to the ground, with a loud bang heard throughout the footage. Many children screamed as the incident unfolded, with some urging the students to fight while others pleaded for them to stop. West appeared to walk away after the confrontation, but collapsed before reaching home.
Bullying Allegations and Family Questions
West had been a victim of bullying since recently transferring to Mason Creek Middle School, according to her family. The argument reportedly began on campus and continued onto the bus. Relatives questioned why the other girl involved was permitted on the bus since she did not live in the same neighborhood. When West’s aunt, Dequala McClendon, rushed to the scene, she found her niece on the ground and not breathing. The girl’s heart had stopped before she could make it home.
Investigation Underway as Family Seeks Justice
Villa Rica Police confirmed the fight involved two middle school students and are reviewing the footage. No charges have been filed, and local authorities are working with the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office. The school district released a statement describing West as an upbeat, kind, and vibrant student, extending condolences to her family. The district emphasized that because the incident occurred off campus and outside school hours, the investigation falls under police jurisdiction. The family awaits autopsy results while demanding accountability for their loss.

This was a deliberate act of aggression that caused her life to be over. Actions better be taken against her aggressor. They deliberately got off the bus with her just to have a confrontation that resulted in her death. This should never happen to our children. Prayers and blessings for healing for everyone that witnessed this altercation.

The school says that it was not on school property and after hours so basically it’s not their responsibility. I thought that school districts were responsible for the school buses and what happens on them and shortly after getting off? Do they not hire the buses and drivers? The bus driver should not have allowed the other students to get off on a stop that was not theirs, especially knowing a fight started on the bus. Therefore, it’s the school’s & driver’s responsibility. Thoughts and prayers to the mother and other family members. RIP Jada, you’re with God now.
