A violent brawl erupted inside Barstool Sports’ Manhattan headquarters Monday afternoon when an Uber Eats delivery driver repeatedly punched the company’s security guard in the face, leaving him requiring stitches after a dispute over a food order spiraled out of control.

Caught-On-Camera Attack Shocks Office

The New York Police Department responded to the Midtown office on Seventh Avenue around 2 p.m. after a verbal dispute between a 31-year-old delivery driver and a 45-year-old security guard turned physical. Surveillance footage posted by Barstool founder Dave Portnoy shows the delivery worker knocking the guard to the floor, dragging him across the ground, and kneeling over him to deliver multiple blows to his face. The violent encounter began when the courier argued with an employee over her food order in the hallway.

Security guard Dan intervened to ask the delivery driver to leave the premises. Instead of complying, the courier launched a physical assault. Three Barstool employees eventually intervened to pull the attacker off the guard and restrain him until police arrived. The security guard received medical treatment at the scene for his injuries. A person of interest was taken into custody, and the investigation remains ongoing, according to the NYPD.

Uber Responds With Platform Ban

Uber moved swiftly to remove the delivery driver from its platform following the attack. A company spokesperson condemned the violence in a statement, calling the conduct horrifying and emphasizing that violence is never tolerated on their platform. The spokesperson confirmed Uber stands ready to assist police with their investigation. The incident raises questions about safety protocols for delivery workers entering office buildings and screening procedures for platform contractors.

Portnoy used the incident to criticize Mayor Zohran Mamdani, sarcastically thanking him for the attack in his social media post. The Barstool founder has previously stated he would consider running against Mamdani in a mayoral election. Portnoy characterized the violent encounter as just another day at the company, though he acknowledged his security guard would need stitches and some beers to recover.
