Vivek’s PAST COMMENTS Just Became A NEW PROBLEM

Republican Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy confronts mounting criticism after Democrats resurfaced a 2023 podcast clip where he claimed a Black baby faces greater danger in the womb than on Chicago streets, linking abortion to Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger in controversial remarks now drawing bipartisan scrutiny.

Controversial Claims Surface From 2023 Podcast

The Democratic National Committee, Democratic Governors Association, and advocacy group Headquarters circulated video Monday showing Ramaswamy’s statements from a 2023 conversation with commentator Adam Coleman. In the recording, Ramaswamy argued that abortion poses greater risks to Black children than violence in Chicago’s inner city. He connected this claim to Margaret Sanger, repeating a widely disputed theory that Planned Parenthood’s founder established the organization to suppress Black population growth.

Democratic strategist Alencia Johnson, who previously worked at Planned Parenthood, challenged Ramaswamy’s historical interpretation. Johnson explained that Sanger distributed birth control information because women died during childbirth, and Black leaders in Harlem specifically requested access to reproductive healthcare for their communities. The Harlem clinic frequently cited by conservative critics actually launched through partnership with the National Urban League, involving Black leadership from its inception.

Candidate Previously Targeted By Racist Attacks

Ramaswamy, who ran unsuccessfully in the 2024 Republican presidential primary before pursuing the Ohio governorship, has himself experienced discrimination within conservative circles. Paul Ingrassia, a Trump nominee for White House Office of Special Counsel, withdrew his nomination after leaked messages revealed he stated in January 2024 to never trust anyone of Chinese or Indian descent. At least four Republican senators, including Majority Leader John Thune, revoked their support following the revelation.

The racist comments emerged from leaked Telegram messages involving over 350 Young Republican operatives, exposing widespread use of racist, antisemitic, and misogynistic language among individuals holding official campaign positions and government roles rather than anonymous online commentators.

Political Implications For 2026 Race

The resurfaced remarks arrive as Ramaswamy campaigns for Ohio’s highest state office in 2026. His comments about race, abortion, and reproductive healthcare threaten to alienate moderate voters in a state that has recently supported abortion rights protections through ballot initiatives. The controversy highlights ongoing tensions within the Republican Party between hardline positions on abortion and electoral viability in swing states where voters increasingly reject absolute bans on reproductive healthcare access.
