Supporters of a convicted murderer gathered outside a Texas courthouse Tuesday calling for the death of the surviving twin brother who witnessed the killing, while activists declared racial war in speeches that shocked observers and raised concerns about public safety and escalating tensions.
Guilty Verdict Followed by Shocking Rhetoric
Karmelo Anthony, convicted Tuesday of murdering 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, saw his supporters rally outside the Collin County Courthouse with disturbing messages. Independent journalist Nick Sortor captured video showing a woman telling the crowd that both Metcalf brothers should have died, with surrounding supporters nodding and voicing agreement. The jury had deliberated less than three hours before finding Anthony guilty of stabbing Metcalf at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco during an April 2025 altercation.
The victim’s identical twin brother Hunter witnessed the entire attack. Born just four minutes after Austin, Hunter had asked Anthony to leave their school team tent during a rain delay at the track meet. Austin then confronted Anthony, who pulled a knife and stabbed him in the chest. Hunter immediately rushed to his brother’s side, desperately trying to stop the bleeding while holding Austin as he died despite first responder efforts.
Brothers Shared Unbreakable Bond Until Fatal Attack
The Metcalf twins were inseparable throughout their lives, playing football together as standout athletes, working at the same local pizzeria, and attending church youth group. Their family described their bond as unbreakable. Hunter later accepted Austin’s posthumous diploma at their high school graduation in an emotional ceremony that drew a standing ovation. Prosecutors kept Hunter out of the courtroom as a potential witness, though bodycam footage played for the jury showed him sobbing and screaming while trying to save his brother.
Activists Declare War Outside Courthouse
Beyond the calls for Hunter’s death, Black Panther members and supporters made incendiary speeches outside the courthouse. Speakers declared the situation a war and told crowds America remains deeply racist, urging parents to teach children this message. One speaker specifically directed criticism at white communities while dismissing concerns about violence within other demographic groups. Anthony had claimed self-defense, but eyewitnesses, video evidence, and testimony presented over eight days of trial contradicted that assertion, leading to the swift guilty verdict.
This is the first place I’ve seen that Austin had a twin brother. This makes it even worse for Hunter. My sincerest condolences to his family.

As for the incident itself, everyone knows that you do not invade another teams Tent at a track meet. SO I believe that Anthony had a “bone” to pick and provoked the entire incident, thinking that he could use the knife and then claim self defense. That is classic “street” mentality!
There’s no such thing as “reverse racism” — it is RACISM, plain and simple. The problem is that we have allowed too many immoral people to exist in our society. These people have no understanding of right and wrong, and they notably show it with their extremely high history of criminal activity. Washington DC is 80% Black in population, so sending them “up north” will do nothing. This is 2026, not 1865. The majority of Americans at that time objected to the institution of slavery. There have been many Black people who have positively benefitted our nation–Phillis Wheatly, Harriet Tubman, W.E.B.DuBois, George W. Carver, Dr. Charles Drew, Ralph J. Just what has our society devolved into? The question I have is why was he asked to leave?
I can answer Teddie’s question. He was from the other school and belonged in their tent during the completion. This is a universal norm. A more relevant question would be, “Why did he go (alone) into THAT tent and with a knife???” I am positive that there is someone or some persons he discussed this with before he entered the tent. No one wants to come forward because he/she knows/knew what his intent was and that would provide grounds for premeditated murder. It would also provide for a charge of accessary to premeditated murder for anyone who knew he had the knife and what he intended to do. This was a crime that was planned in advanced but the police took the easy way out with charging one person. Their narrative seems like==OK, we have a person to punish and that will satisfy the public . Move on folks, nothing to see here==!!! I am sure someone had prior knowledge and they are not about to come forward. It has been my experience during my 82 years ( 50 of them as a law enforcement officer), that a young man (17-18) with no priors will always discuss significant life-changing events with someone else i.e, a brother/sister/parent, girlfriend a friend or someone else he looks up to for advice. His family did spend the go-fund money for their own self-gratification. That is way too cold. In my family, that money would have been saved for the appeal. I feel that there needs to be a grand jury investigation of this crime before any action by a judge to reduce the penalty. His reaction to the 35 year sentence is proof that he thought he would get something far shorter. The only reason he would think like that is if he had been coached by someone much older then him. I am a combat veteran. I remember my first engagement with the enemy and how sick I was after doing a body count. Shooting into the brush at a sound is still horrible but was not personal and it was us or them. This was not the case with these two young men. One was armed and the other was not. The act was too spontaneous and precise. These is much more at play here then a simple horrible mistake committed by a young man who had a clean record and a good future in front of him.. We, as human beings have the responsibility to make law enforcement keep this case open and find out what lead up to this tragic event and punish whomever was responsiable for these two deaths. YES!! I mean two deaths. One already dead and the other will not live to serve his full 35 year sentence. Only an idiot could believe that Karmello will live to finish his sentence.
