Mayor UNDER SIEGE After Brutal Assault Video Emerges

A brutal assault on a 77-year-old man in downtown Seattle has ignited fierce criticism of Mayor Katie Wilson’s public safety policies after surveillance cameras she opposed captured the unprovoked attack that left the elderly victim hospitalized with severe injuries.

Unprovoked Attack Leaves Senior Hospitalized

The elderly victim was walking down a Seattle street last month when two men approached and, without any provocation, shoved him to the ground and beat him severely. Ahmed Abdullahi Osman, 29, faces second-degree assault charges after police identified him through street cameras. The victim spent a week hospitalized with a broken arm, broken knee, and facial injuries. Police arrested Osman the night of the assault, but he was released before a bail hearing and is now wanted on a $200,000 warrant. The second suspect, Jes’Sean Tyrell Elion, was arrested Tuesday with help from Seattle police officers.

Mayor Opposed Cameras That Solved Crime

Wilson previously criticized the Real Time Crime Center surveillance program that captured crucial evidence of the assault. In 2025, after the Seattle City Council approved expanding the camera system, Wilson stated that turning on more cameras would not make neighborhoods safer but would make them more vulnerable. She has repeatedly expressed concerns that surveillance infrastructure could allow federal agencies to target immigrant and refugee communities. Several activist organizations, including the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project and the Council on American-Islamic Relations of Washington, echoed these concerns in a letter opposing camera expansion.

Conservative Critics Highlight Safety Failures

Conservative commentators and policy experts pointed to Wilson’s approach as exemplifying failed soft-on-crime policies. Heritage Foundation senior fellow Mike Gonzalez questioned what voters expected after electing a socialist mayor. Manhattan Institute fellow Rafael Mangual challenged supporters to explain the socioeconomic root causes of the heinous attack. Journalist Jonathan Choe accused Wilson of allowing far-left activists to control public safety decisions for the city. A video clip posted by the End Wokeness account highlighting the case has been viewed over one million times on social media.

What This Means

Wilson’s office responded by directing media to a March press release stating she would keep existing cameras operational but pause program expansion pending a privacy and data governance audit. She acknowledged the controversy, saying different communities experience cameras differently, with some feeling safer and others feeling threatened. Wilson emphasized the need to base decisions on thorough understanding rather than feelings alone. The incident underscores ongoing tensions between public safety priorities and privacy concerns in major American cities facing rising crime rates.

    • That is NOT the only thing wrong with the commie/socialist agenda! Everything is wrong with their agenda!

  1. Seattle. A true armpit of a city. Forget the frequent rain and gloomy moods. The leftist governor of the state and the leftist mayor and all of the rest of the Democrat socialist loonies have made this west coast state and city a rough place to live.
Forget all of the scenic beauty if you don’t live to see it.

  2. When you have garbage, whether its in a bag or in office, it needs to be dumped. When will the people of Seattle re-take their once beautiful city. Vote her out or demand that the Gov. recalls her.

  3. Democrat racist Marxist anti-American politicians = Mayors, D.A.’s, and governors MUST BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE or PUT IN JAIL FOR TREASON AGAINST AMERICA & AMERICANS CITIZENS!!!!
