A 30-year-old California man forced his way into a family home while the homeowner’s wife and child were alone inside, repeatedly screaming demands to know the location of their daughter before being confronted by the armed father in a violent altercation captured on security cameras.
Violent Home Invasion Caught on Camera
Jason Nichols arrived at a Fairfield residence last Tuesday wearing a trench coat and aggressively pounded on the front door while screaming, “Where is your daughter?” according to police statements and viral doorbell camera footage. The homeowner, monitoring his property remotely through the camera’s app, attempted to communicate with Nichols from afar while his wife and child remained trapped inside. Nichols smashed the external doorbell before identifying himself bizarrely as “Harry Dresden,” a wizard character from fictional novels.
After failing to kick through the front door, Nichols gained entry by breaking through a glass side door. Interior security footage shows him ripping open closet doors throughout the home, shouting profanities while searching for the family’s daughter. The homeowner rushed back to his residence and armed himself with a shovel to defend his family. Both men sustained head injuries during the confrontation before officers arrived and arrested Nichols near the property.
Multiple Criminal Charges Filed
Fairfield police charged Nichols with felony assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, threatening crime with intent to terrorize, and vandalism according to court documents filed in Solano County. Investigators later uncovered an earlier incident from April 5 involving Nichols and another child, leading to an additional charge of annoying or molesting a child. Judge William Pendergast III dramatically increased Nichols’ bail from $35,000 to $250,000 during Monday’s arraignment. Online court records did not list legal representation for the defendant.
Community Safety Concerns
The incident has raised serious questions about child safety in Fairfield, a city of approximately 122,000 residents in the San Francisco Bay Area. The father’s decision to arm himself with a shovel to protect his family highlights the constitutional right of Americans to defend their homes and loved ones when law enforcement cannot arrive immediately. Nichols remains in custody with his next court appearance scheduled for April 23. Police continue investigating whether additional victims may have encountered the suspect prior to the home invasion.

This dude is so incredibly lucky. The average home owner, with a home defense weapon, would have blown this guy away as soon as he broke into their home. I hope he realizes how fortunate he is in case he is, after serving his time in prison. If he does this again, he may not be as lucky the next time. Screaming at the door and demanding a family’s daughter will get you sent directly to the morgue.
I wouldn’t have hesitated to shoot the mfr.
Not even for a second.
Never bring a shovel to what should’ve been a one-sided gun fight!
He should convicted of assault with a deadly mind.
At least the judge isn’t letting him out to do this again..I’m glad some judges do the right thingl Liberal judges let people like this out on little or no bail.
Thats shy we have the 2nd Amendment.
The glass in that door is illegal the home owner should sue the door manufactor or if it got broken before the glass company who replaced it.
