A Georgia woman trying to prevent her intoxicated ex-husband from driving was killed when he allegedly drove off with her clinging to his truck door, then dragged her body back to her home without calling for help, according to family members and security footage from the incident.
Security Footage Captures Fatal Incident
Home surveillance video from around 2 a.m. shows the woman, identified as Frazier, following her ex-husband to his truck after he arrived unexpectedly at her residence. The footage captures him appearing to drink from a flask before heading to his vehicle. Frazier entered the truck attempting to stop him from driving while intoxicated, her family told WSB-TV. Moments later, the man runs back to the driver’s side and gets in.
The video then shows Frazier grabbing the driver’s side door handle and banging on the window as the truck begins moving down the driveway. She attempts to keep pace with the vehicle but loses her grip, falls beneath it, and is run over by the rear tire. The footage appears to show the man returning, inspecting Frazier’s body, then dragging her back up the steep driveway to her home.
No Emergency Call Made After Deadly Collision
Instead of calling 911 or attempting CPR, the ex-husband allegedly dragged Frazier inside, changed her clothes, and contacted her son to come to the house. He reportedly told the son he did not know what happened to the woman. Family members expressed outrage at his actions following the incident. “To not even call 911, not to try to do CPR, but to drag her up a driveway, it’s just heartless,” Frazier’s niece, Ashley Black, told the broadcaster.
Chris Frazier, the victim’s nephew, said the family was blindsided by the tragedy. “This was so unexpected. This just hit us like a storm. We didn’t see this coming from a mile away,” he stated. He added that having her son witness the aftermath was particularly traumatic and unnecessary.
Investigation Continues as Questions Remain
DeKalb County police continue investigating the incident. The ex-husband’s name has not been released as he has not been charged with any crime as of this report. The family provided a letter to WSB-TV allegedly written by the ex-husband explaining his difficulty moving on from their relationship, though it remains unclear why he appeared at Frazier’s home in the middle of the night. According to family members, the man returned to the property after the incident to retrieve personal belongings from a storage shed on the premises.
