Apartment Shooting ERUPTS — Two Killed

A Monday night shooting at a LaGrange apartment complex left two men dead and a juvenile wounded, prompting an arrest on double murder charges as residents report escalating gang violence in the area.

Fatal Shooting at Brittany Place Apartments

Officers responded to Brittany Place Apartments on Hogansville Road shortly before 9 p.m. Monday after a 911 caller reported multiple gunshots. The caller told police that someone inside Apartment 922 was acting erratically before the gunfire erupted. When officers arrived, they discovered Drevion Brewer dead outside one of the buildings. Inside the apartment, investigators found Amarious Williams suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Williams was transported to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

A juvenile victim also sustained a gunshot wound to the leg during the incident. Clay Pierce, a resident at the complex, said someone frantically knocked on his door seeking help immediately after the shooting. Pierce stepped outside to find the wounded juvenile and provided emergency aid until first responders arrived on scene. The juvenile’s current condition has not been disclosed by authorities.

Suspect Charged with Double Murder

Police arrested Joshua Preston in connection with the deadly shooting. Preston faces two counts of malice murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. LaGrange Police Chief Garrett Fiveash confirmed that investigators determined the shooting originated inside Apartment 922, though authorities have not released details about what precipitated the violence or the relationship between Preston and the victims.

Residents Report Ongoing Violence Problem

Pierce told reporters that violence has become a persistent issue at the apartment complex. He specifically cited concerns about gang activity and drug-related problems that residents say have contributed to multiple shootings in the area. The deadly Monday night incident marks the latest in what residents describe as an escalating pattern of violent crime at Brittany Place Apartments. Pierce’s comments reflect growing frustration among community members who say more action is needed to address criminal activity threatening the safety of families living in the complex.

Investigation Continues

The LaGrange Police Department continues investigating the circumstances surrounding the double homicide. Authorities have not indicated whether additional suspects may be involved or what motivated the shooting. The case adds to concerns about violent crime in residential communities and the challenges law enforcement faces in addressing gang-related activity. As Preston awaits prosecution on murder charges, residents hope for increased security measures to prevent future tragedies at the complex.
