Three teenagers, two of them just 14 years old, now face serious charges after leading Pierce County deputies on a dangerous high-speed chase that reached speeds over 100 miles per hour in a stolen vehicle linked to an armed carjacking and multiple break-ins.

Armed Carjacking Leads to Morning Chase

The incident unfolded on Pacific Avenue South in Tacoma around 7:30 a.m. on August 29 when a Pierce County deputy spotted a white BMW SUV speeding recklessly through traffic. According to Pierce County Public Information Officer Carly Cappetto, the deputy witnessed the vehicle cutting dangerously between cars. Dispatchers quickly alerted the deputy that the SUV matched the description of a vehicle stolen at gunpoint in Tacoma and potentially connected to recent car prowls involving firearms and juveniles.

The deputy initiated a pursuit as the teenage driver accelerated to extreme speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour on public roads. The reckless chase continued until the SUV veered into a ditch, losing two tires in the process. Despite the vehicle damage, the three occupants abandoned the disabled SUV and attempted to flee on foot through the surrounding area.

Deputies Recover Two Firearms

Law enforcement officers tracked down all three suspects and took them into custody without further incident. The two 14-year-olds and one 16-year-old were arrested at the scene. When deputies returned to search the abandoned BMW, they discovered two firearms inside the vehicle, confirming earlier intelligence about weapons being involved. The discovery adds weapons charges to the serious list of offenses the juveniles now face, including possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding police, and likely charges related to the original armed carjacking.
