Video footage captured a vehicle driving through immigration protesters blocking the exit of Delaney Hall Detention Center in Newark, New Jersey, as demonstrators jumped onto the car’s hood and kicked the vehicle during weeks of escalating confrontations outside the federal facility.
Weeks of Violent Clashes at Detention Facility
Armed federal immigration officers have clashed repeatedly with immigrant rights advocates demonstrating outside the detention center since its reopening last year. Protesters have attempted multiple vehicle blockades, including forming human chains by linking arms to prevent ICE vehicles from departing the property. The latest incident comes amid allegations from detainee families that immigrants inside face pepper spray, physical force, and deteriorating living conditions while staging a hunger strike.
The GEO Group, the private contractor operating Delaney Hall, acknowledged a physical altercation involving detainees last Thursday prompted staff to use response and control measures, including limited chemical agents. The company dismissed allegations of poor conditions as part of a coordinated, politically motivated campaign by groups opposed to federal immigration enforcement.
Congressional Democrats Report Dire Conditions
Democratic members of Congress who toured the facility described troubling observations. Representative Jerry Nadler of Manhattan reported detainees receive small food portions that very often contain maggots, with Tylenol as their only available medication. Representative Adriano Espaillat, also from Manhattan, called conditions inhumane after spending approximately one hour inside the center and vowed to shut down the facility.
President Donald Trump and his administration officials have defended operations at Delaney Hall and denied claims of any hunger strike, abuse, or substandard conditions. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin recently stated authorities provide detainees the calories they require, adding the facility is not a hotel. Border czar Tom Homan praised the food quality after a recent visit, specifically complimenting the spaghetti he sampled.
Escalating Tensions Over Immigration Enforcement
The confrontations represent broader tensions over immigration enforcement policies during the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration. Demonstrators have maintained their presence outside the Newark detention center for weeks, with protests turning violent at times as advocates push back against federal detention operations. The GEO Group maintains that criticisms target government facility contractors as part of efforts to dismantle ICE and federal immigration detention systems entirely.

You stand in & block the road, you are now Pre-roadkill. No penalties.
Amen
BINGO
These Protesters need to be put into prison for at least one year. Once these prisoners are in jail, they should not be allowed a reduction in sentences. Ice needs to come down hard on these protestors. These Protestors should be classified as terrorist which is an off shoot of ANTIFA!
The FBI and CIA needs to uncover the people who are paying for these protest, and should be tried and convicted of treason!
You block any law enforcement vehicles. Next will be tire thread marks on your body
Liberal Left elected are supporting these activists behind the scenes with taxpayer money. This is why they are not supporting the WH Administration’s policies regarding immigration and especially fraud in the Blue Governed States.
I have a solid steel wrap around bumper on the front of my truck for just such an occasion. My vehicle was being surrounded by violent criminals. I was in fear for my life so……I mowed em down.
Exactly!
I think an effective way to get them to move along, would be bring out the fire hoses. No lethal force, no pepper spray. They probably need a good washing anyway.
I say mount 4 operating chain saws to the front bumper of all LE vehicles then move forward at about 10 mph.
WOW!! She spent a whole hour inspecting a govt facility and during that hr she decided it was inhumane and spotted maggots in the detained persons food, was she riding a electric bike??
It is lawful to peacefully protest – but it is a felony to block vehicle traffic, block pedestrian traffic, harass individuals trying to go about their daily lives. It is also a felony to trespass on private/government property – you can be on the sidewalk across the street, but not blocking the sidewalk or being in the street, or being on the property without permission.
If you attempt to stop a motor vehicle, that is a felony and the driver is allowed to proceed to protect themselves. If you do any damage to their vehicle or attempt to enter their vehicle they are allowed to use LETHAL force to defend themselves.
Just come over peacefully, bring your signs, walk peacefully, do not shout or use anything that makes extra loud noise, do not use lasers, do not spray anything on anyone or any vehicles. The word is “PEACEFUL” – not violent and unlawful!
Stay out of the way – better yet, stay home and put your messages on Facebook!!!
Here’s an idea… when protesters don’t disperse when directed by competent authority, disperse the protesters with permanent dyed water from water cannons! That seems to have good results in other countries!
All of the ideas put forth above my comment sound like great ideas! Especially the year in jail. Make it one year and a day. That last day will enforce the whole sentence.
There should be no detention center. Put them immediately on Busses and ship them back home now.
IF ONLY !!! You Have SEEN What Happens When We Try and Do That…Judges BLOCKS…People Scream DO-PROCESS !!! Come Out From That Rock Your Under And OPEN YOUR EYES and GET REAL !!!
A large dump truck equipped with a snowplow would just scoop them aside. As for the food complaint, just consider the source.
The ONLY WAY To STOP The Demonstrations Everywhere…is to STOP THE MONEY SORCE !!! 99% Are NOT Doing This for FREE !!! These Are ALL PAID ACTORS !!!
They are paid demonstrators working for the Democrats. Their objective is not to protect the immigrants who have been detained, it is to oppose Trump.
