A Northern Virginia mental health therapist found herself staring down the barrel of a federal agent’s gun after shouting insults at Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers during an arrest operation, with dashboard camera footage directly contradicting the government’s account of the confrontation.

Conflicting Accounts of Monday Encounter

Carolina Molina, a licensed mental health therapist, was driving to visit immigration attorneys in Bailey’s Crossroads on Monday when she witnessed ICE agents handcuffing two men. She rolled down her window and yelled profanities at the officers, including calling one agent derogatory names. Molina told reporters she then turned her car around to avoid drawing attention to the attorney’s office where immigrants might be located.

When Molina attempted to leave the area, masked federal agents in an unmarked gray SUV blocked her vehicle. The agents jumped out, with one shouting accusations that she was following them and had nearly run them over. Dashboard and cell phone footage shows an agent pointing a firearm at Molina for much of the encounter, threatening her with arrest while she insisted she had done nothing wrong.

Government Claims Woman Weaponized Vehicle

The Department of Homeland Security painted a sharply different picture in its official statement. A spokesperson described Molina as an anti-ICE agitator who drove in circles around officers and attempted to harm them by weaponizing her vehicle to help illegal aliens escape. DHS further stated the woman could face criminal prosecution for her actions during what they described as an operation targeting criminals with offenses including hit and run, drug trafficking, and individuals with final removal orders.

DHS justified the agent’s response by citing massive increases in dangers faced by immigration enforcement officers, including a 1,300 percent rise in assaults, 3,300 percent jump in vehicular attacks, and 8,000 percent spike in death threats. The agency maintained its officers used proper training to protect themselves and the public.

Pattern of Disputed Federal Claims

This confrontation adds to a growing list of recent incidents where DHS accounts have been contradicted by video evidence, local police reports, or judicial findings. Multiple legal cases against individuals accused of targeting federal agents have collapsed under scrutiny. Molina adamantly denied the government’s version of events, stating she was simply trying to leave when agents blocked her path. She called for an investigation and release of any body camera footage from the encounter.
