An 11-year-old Florida boy was arrested for threatening to shoot seven teachers at his middle school—marking his second arrest for making death threats in less than five months, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
Second Arrest in Five Months
The boy was first arrested in October at Southwestern Middle School after sending a group message reading “IM GONNA SHOOT YOU” from another student’s communications account. Despite being placed in a diversion program following that arrest, authorities say the child struck again on Thursday at DeLand Middle School, using another student’s account to send “imma shoot you” to seven teachers. The sheriff’s office released video showing a deputy perp-walking the handcuffed suspect into a holding cell.
Sheriff’s Tough Stance on Threats
Sheriff Mike Chitwood defended his department’s handling of the case, rejecting criticism from those who believe young offenders should be treated more leniently. “I know some want to make excuses and coddle the select few who choose to make threats. You can pat them on the head and tell them everything’s going to be alright. My job is to look out for everyone else,” Chitwood stated. He emphasized that Volusia County Schools serve 63,000 students and 4,400 teachers, adding that “these idiotic threats disrupt our schools, eat up time and resources, and increase the chances a real threat slips through the cracks.”
Growing Pattern of Youth Threats
The arrest represents part of a disturbing trend in Volusia County. One day before this incident, the same sheriff’s office arrested a 10-year-old boy who threatened to bring a gun to elementary school and created a kill list. Late last month, deputies arrested a 12-year-old girl for posting threats online. Sheriff Chitwood directed a clear message to parents: “If you can threaten to shoot 7 teachers you can take a perp walk. Parents, discipline your kids and I won’t have to.” The repeated pattern raises questions about juvenile accountability and whether diversion programs effectively prevent repeat offenses among young perpetrators.

A year or two in a cell will help. If not, hit him with 5. Advertise the Hell out of this case. It may make the next crazy kid think things out better.
And where were his parents, I am sure the father took off as usual
5 months ago why isn’t he in juvenile detention. Thesaurus are not doing there job this kid needs to be in juvenile detention amd hos so called parents need to be charged
WOW…Repeated offender…..A hard lesson to be directed to this youth… 30 days in boot camp.
This could be coming from the parents should be investigating the parents
Did anyone consider a good old fashioned spanking…??
Juvenile detention ..1-5yrs/ stay clean of issue, or Boot Camp til 18-21. after that, a FELONY= it will ruin his chances of a normal free life.Etc.
I think the children will benefit from a religious therapist, boot camp for a month where he can have someone talk to him about his actions. Please do not just lock him up. Something he cannot control is growing inside of him. Thank you so much
Put the parents in jail with him. Too many adults threatening politicians the same way. Age doesn’t excuse you.
This kid is screaming for help.
“If something he can not control is growing inside him ” than for the safety of students, teachers, and others he must be confined and required to have mental evaluation to determine why angry. Age is not an excuse, if he does follow thru with his threats than the fault is of those that could have helped him.
This is what happens when you take your child to their quiet protest while screaming at ice or police with foul language & your child is participating in the protest. This world gets sicker everyday thanks to our corrupt judicial system. Put him in Juvy for 5 months then you’ll see if it needs more drastic measures

Bad things happen to youngsters in juvenile detention. Detain one of his parents for failing this boy and place the boy on a farm where self respect can be achieved by hard work and responsibility. Give him a chance to learn a new way without electronics and social media in an environment with animals where he can pour his troubles to without fear of ridicule or gossip.
He needs a chance at a better life.
Don’t do the crime, if you don’t want to do the time. Put him into the juvenile detention. He will learn faster.
Your kidding right he is 11
