Driver JUMPS From Moving Car — Bridge Leap Follows

A Missouri driver led deputies on a wild high-speed chase that ended with him jumping from his moving vehicle and diving headfirst off a bridge into a river below, according to dashcam footage released by the Stone County Sheriff’s Office.

Chase Ends With Dramatic Bridge Jump

Gavin Thor Lundgren was driving his Chevrolet Malibu at 75 mph in a 45 mph zone last Saturday when Stone County deputies activated their emergency lights to pull him over. Instead of stopping, Lundgren drove into a parking lot, circled a building, and accelerated back onto the roadway to escape officers. The pursuit continued until Lundgren reached a bridge spanning a local waterway.

Dashcam video captured the shocking moment when Lundgren abandoned his vehicle while it was still in drive and leaped headfirst over the bridge railing into the water below. A deputy’s voice can be heard on the footage saying, “Contact water patrol, he jumped over the bridge.” Four officers immediately responded, with two checking over the bridge’s edge while the others secured Lundgren’s vehicle, which sputtered to a stop moments after he bailed out.

Violent Confrontation With Law Enforcement

Deputies discovered Lundgren’s driver’s license on the front passenger seat of the empty Chevrolet. Local firefighters joined the search effort, deploying a boat to scan the river for the fleeing suspect. Officers eventually located Lundgren on a nearby shoreline, where he violently resisted arrest. During the struggle, Lundgren headbutted multiple officers, causing scrapes, lacerations, and facial injuries to three deputies before they successfully restrained him.

Criminal Charges Filed

Lundgren now faces multiple criminal charges stemming from the incident. Prosecutors charged him with aggravated fleeing from a stop and third-degree assault. He also faces two additional counts of misdemeanor fourth-degree assault related to the injuries sustained by deputies during his arrest. The Stone County Sheriff’s Office released the dashcam footage to document the dangerous pursuit and the suspect’s extreme measures to evade law enforcement. The video shows the risks officers face during high-speed chases and the unpredictable actions suspects take when attempting to escape custody. No other occupants were found in Lundgren’s vehicle, and no civilians were injured during the pursuit or bridge incident.
