Airbnb Party ERUPTS — Gunman Fires 15 Shots

A violent shooting outside an Airbnb party in an upscale Los Angeles neighborhood has left wealthy residents demanding action after a gunman fired 15 shots into a parked vehicle while a massive crowd spilled into the street just before 3 a.m.

Gunfire Erupts After Party Chaos

Exclusive security camera footage shows the June 28 incident in Beverly Grove unfolded when a violent argument inside a house party on Lindenhurst Avenue forced guests to flee onto the street. Video captured a suspect wearing white pants and a white hooded sweatshirt approaching a black sedan before firing 15 consecutive shots into a car parked at 6380 Lindenhurst. The victim, who was struck while sitting in his vehicle, drove himself to a local hospital and was listed in stable condition.

Police received a call just before 3 a.m. for a loud banging on a homeowner’s door in the 6300 block of Lindenhurst. Investigators established a crime scene with protective tape, but the victim refused to cooperate with detectives. Authorities provided no details on a suspect or motive, and the shooting remains under investigation.

Residents Demand Airbnb Crackdown

Outraged neighbors reported the incident directly to Airbnb, which responded by suspending the listing for 90 days and warning the host that subsequent violations would result in additional suspensions or removal. One anonymous resident expressed deep concern about the violence affecting Beverly Grove. The resident said the shooting was especially troubling because it stemmed from an Airbnb rental, and hoped the incident would spark meaningful discussions about protecting neighborhood safety and character.

City Councilmember Katy Yaroslavsky, who represents Community District 5 where the shooting occurred, is developing new legislation targeting repeat Airbnb offenders. The proposed law would authorize shutting off all utilities for properties whose owners do not comply with short-term rental regulations. Yaroslavsky’s office did not respond to requests for comment about the legislation’s timeline or specific provisions.

Crime Concerns Mount in Upscale Area

Multiple residents reported that wild parties at Airbnb rentals have become a worsening problem in the wealthy enclave. Beyond the party violence, neighbors said crime in the once-quiet neighborhood is escalating as homeless individuals migrate from downtown’s Skid Row area. One anonymous resident described the influx as creating a new normal for the community, with homelessness and crime becoming regular features of daily life in an area previously known for its safety and exclusivity.
