A Georgia mother fought off an armed suspect attempting to abduct her child at a Marietta gas station, using a fuel pump as a weapon to protect her family in a harrowing midnight encounter captured on surveillance video.

Armed Suspect Targets Children at Gas Station

The incident occurred just after midnight at a Shell station on Delk Road in Marietta last week. Surveillance footage shows Jerahn Tucker, who was shirtless and barefoot, approaching the family’s vehicle at the pump. Tucker walked away initially but returned moments later, peering inside the car and appearing to notice the children. The mother told Marietta police that Tucker was armed with a gun during the confrontation, according to arrest warrants.

Video footage reveals Tucker following one child who had exited the vehicle and run around the car. He then opened the back door where the mother’s second child sat. The mother immediately stepped between Tucker and her child, grabbed the gas pump nozzle, and used it to push the suspect away. Her quick response allowed her child to safely return inside the vehicle. Two witnesses at the gas station rushed to assist the mother during the dangerous encounter.

Swift Police Response Leads to Arrest

Marietta Police Department spokesman Charles McPhilamy commended the mother’s composure under extreme pressure. He told local media that the actions of everyone present, their ability to stay calm and push Tucker away from the children, enabled officers to respond effectively and hold the suspect accountable. After Tucker fled the scene in his vehicle, Cobb County police assisted Marietta officers in tracking him down. Authorities located Tucker shortly afterward and discovered a THC vape inside his car.

Repeat Offender With Unknown Motive

Tucker now faces charges of attempted kidnapping, simple assault, and possession of a THC vape. He remains in custody at the Cobb County Jail. McPhilamy acknowledged the central question everyone watching will ask: why this happened. Police cannot yet explain the motive behind Tucker’s actions. The gas station manager revealed that Tucker had been removed from the property multiple times before this incident, raising questions about security protocols and why he was able to return to target another family at the same location.
