US BLOWS Up Own Planes Mid Iran Shootout

American forces deliberately destroyed two transport planes and four helicopters worth over $200 million during a high-stakes rescue mission deep inside Iranian territory, preventing advanced military technology from falling into enemy hands after successfully extracting a downed F-15 pilot.

Daring Seven-Hour Firefight Rescues Downed Pilot

A U.S. Air Force colonel parachuted from his F-15E fighter jet Friday after a mechanical failure over the Zagros Mountains in southern Iran. The pilot survived the ejection and trekked through forested mountain terrain for 36 hours, evading Iranian forces before activating his emergency locator beacon. American special operations forces launched a rescue operation Sunday morning that resulted in a seven-hour firefight, killing at least nine Iranian soldiers before extracting the injured airman to a base in Kuwait.

The rescue team destroyed two MC-130J specialized transport aircraft valued at $100 million each, plus four MH-6 Little Bird helicopters, to prevent Iranian forces from capturing sensitive American military equipment and technology. Iranian state media released video footage showing the charred wreckage at an abandoned airport near Isfahan, attempting to portray the successful rescue as an American military failure.

Iran Claims Victory Despite Zero American Casualties

Iranian military spokesman Ebrahim Zolfaghari released a statement claiming the operation was completely foiled, comparing it to the disastrous 1980 Operation Eagle Claw hostage rescue attempt. Iranian officials falsely claimed their missiles shot down the aircraft, ignoring that American forces intentionally destroyed their own equipment according to standard military protocol. The regime shared propaganda through the state-controlled Fars News agency, showing wreckage remnants, despite the mission achieving its primary objective with no American casualties.

Strategic Decision Protects Military Secrets

The decision to destroy valuable aircraft demonstrates military commitment to protecting classified technology and operational capabilities. The MC-130J planes feature advanced navigation systems, electronic warfare equipment, and specialized communications gear that would provide significant intelligence value to adversaries. Military analysts note the equipment sacrifice was necessary and appropriate given the strategic risks of allowing Iran access to cutting-edge American military technology, even at substantial financial cost to taxpayers.

    • Did you whine when Joe “Autopen” Biden, Lloyd Austin and Mark “White Rage” Milley made the decision to leave $85 billion in 1st class military hardware behind for the Taliban to take? Did you whine when 6 soldiers lost their lives looking for the deserter Bo Bergdahl? Then did you whine when Obama traded 6 top Taliban leaders for the deserter?

    • Destroyed to prevent access to any hi tech computers or monitors radios and much more tech they could use to compromise future flights. Its been a mandatory action into utilized in every war with sensitive equipment.

    • Positivity a woke liberal military dodger who cares for himself and NO OTHER SPEAKS LIKE HE IS PAYING THE BILL NO MAN OR MEMBER OF AMERICAS MILITARY WILL BE LEFT BEHIND OF YOU ARE TALKING $$$$$$$ biden sent Several Billions of TAXPAYER $$$$$$$$$$ in CASH TO IRAN EXPLAIN THAT U POC LEAVE AMERICA BECAUSE U ARE NOT A TRUE AMERICAN

  1. When you think about “value” v. “cost”, then one might weigh in favor of the “value” of the solo downed airman v. the “cost” of the destruction of the apparently abandoned aircraft. I personally believe that the correct solution to the present Iran/Hormuz/Nuclear conflict is mainly non-military, the military component thereof being minimal (or least ‘limited’).
The US military is wise not to allow a reprise of the US withdrawal from Afghan wherein the Talibs were bequeathed millions of $ of premium (i.e. sensitive &/or expensive) US military equipment while still inflicting casualties on exiting US personnel.
For any anti-US faction in Iran, the possession of a captured live A US pilot would become an international propaganda icon & a pricey ‘bargaining chip’ which could complicate negotiations.

    • That way of thinking “even with the big words” is why you cold never be military. ( Leave no man behind ). Stick to your 9 to 5 suburban life.

  2. Unbelievable that we have people this shallow. One of our people being recovered is worth whatever it costs and so is protecting our military secrets.

  3. Lol… that picture is not any model of C-130… its junk they put out for target practice… if its destroyed it will be a melted heap not recognizable as aircraft

  4. What the article does not say is why the aircraft had to be destroyed vs flying them out. The only thing the makes any sense is they were damaged to a point of being immediately non flyable. If that is the case and an at site repair is not possible then destruction is the only option. In my past life (before retirement) I was a Mechanical and Electrical Engineer for the Lockheed Skunkworks, also a Navy Combat Vet I have had to make recommendations to on site commanders regarding repairability before.

  5. Paul. What if that soldier were you or your father, son? Would it be worth destroying planes then? You are talking money and not life. Money means nothing compared to that soldiers life.I can make more money but I can’t bring back my son. The US owed that soldier and we paid our debt.

  6. I think it is amazing that our pilot was able to survive and evade capture, especially since a bounty had been placed on his head!

  7. Why were the aircraft abandoned in the first place? How did the 12 pilots plus aircrew remove themselves after abandoning the aircraft in hostile territory? If an aircraft is flyable it would return to its base of operations. Any airforce pilots or pararesuemen have an explanation for this article?

  8. I think one part of the article is a little misleading. Unless I am totally misinformed it was not during a firefight. But after reading the comments, I’ve concluded there sure a lot of uninformed readers of NewsBlock!!
