Illegal Immigrant KILLS Girl After Three Deportations

A 33-year-old illegal immigrant deported three times killed 6-year-old Calli Toller after running a stop sign at high speed in North Carolina, leaving her mother and 4-year-old brother critically injured and exposing catastrophic failures in America’s immigration enforcement system.

Fatal Crash in Pitt County

Jaime Santiago Corona of Ayden drove a 2023 Dodge Ram pickup truck south on Warren Jones Road on Friday, July 3, when he blew through a stop sign at the County Home Road intersection, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers and court documents. The violent collision killed young Calli Toller at the scene. Emergency responders rushed her mother and younger brother to ECU Health Medical Center with serious injuries.

Highway Patrol troopers arrested Santiago that Friday afternoon. He faces charges including misdemeanor death by vehicle, failure to stop at a stop sign, careless and reckless driving, and driving while license revoked. Court records confirm he has no valid operator’s license and could not verify his citizenship status. A magistrate set his bond at more than $100,000 secured, citing his status as a known flight risk with three prior deportations.

Pattern of Failed Enforcement

Santiago’s case represents the deadly consequences of catch-and-release policies and unenforced deportation orders. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has now placed a detainer on Santiago following the fatal crash. His three previous deportations apparently did nothing to prevent his return to American soil or his continued presence in North Carolina without legal status or driving privileges.

This tragedy follows a disturbing pattern. Last month, authorities charged a previously deported illegal immigrant with triple murder in California after he allegedly stabbed a young mother, her grandmother, and a two-week-old baby to death. That suspect had also been deported multiple times and repeatedly released by authorities. In 2024, an illegal alien deported four times faced charges for killing a mother and son in Colorado.

Lenient Treatment Compared to Citizens

Pitt County has confronted this issue before. In February, ICE lodged detainers against two criminal illegal aliens accused of a brutal home invasion involving beating, sodomy, and torture of their victim. In August 2024, Democrat prosecutors in one jurisdiction charged a 16-times deported illegal alien with only misdemeanor traffic violations after he killed a 64-year-old American—far more lenient treatment than American citizens receive in comparable cases.

The Toller family now grieves the loss of young Calli while her mother and brother fight to recover. The case raises urgent questions about why someone deported three times remained in the country with access to vehicles despite having no legal right to drive or even be present on American soil.

  1. Only true solution here, after conviction, is the death penalty.

The multiple violations of coming illegally into the US should all be treated as felonies and the murder of the child while speeding, running a stop sign, not legally being allowed to drive – doubt if he has insurance. Yeah, we should probably bring back the firing squad death penalty for this type of case. Worst case scenario – life without parole in a prison outside of the USA.

    Unbelievable!

  2. Another tragedy that could have been avoided. This is what happens when liberals are in charge. I wonder how many wild eyed liberals are going to be crying in the streets for this young American child? How much air time is the liberal legacy media going to dedicate to this story?

  3. The El Salvadore prison is where his next residence should be. Repeat offenders declare they cannot be rehabilitated.

    • Why do all that when shark infested waters are devoid of fresh meat that could be supplied by invaders like him.

  4. Make sure to vote, or the liberals and socialists will take over and everyone loses freedom. My comments are often ‘awaiting moderation’ and do not say half of other comments.

  5. DOJ should bring the local prosecutor and the judge up on charges for dereliction of duty, complicit in the commission of the crimes sighted, criminal negligence.

  6. Clearly this man should be charged with a felony since he was deported 3 times, was an illegal immigrant, had no driver’s license because his license was revoked, was uninsured, and drove recklessly, resulting in this girl’s death, and critically injured others in the car he crashed into. I think an American who was driving without a license because his was revoked, was uninsured, drove in a careless and reckless manor like this failing to stop an a stop sign resulting in a death and critical injuries should be charged with felony motor vehicle homicide, so why was his charge a misdemeanor? Due to the high rate of speed of which he was driving he could not have stopped at the stop sign even if he had tried to do so. From the description in this article a felony charge is what he deserves. After being convicted he should serve a very long prison sentence with hard labor before being deported.

  7. I like the firing squad idea. Meanwhile, I live in Montgomery County Maryland. They just passed Bill 5-26, which prohibits masking of law enforcement. They also passed Bill 3-26, which gives aid and comfort to illegal alien residents, including the ability to track ICE operations. I am totally disgusted. And yes, thank you President Biden.

  8. Save America the cost of convicting him and just send him to El Salvador. He will never get out of that prison.
