Florida Teen SETS Peer on Fire at Campsite

A 17-year-old Florida teenager faces aggravated battery charges after deliberately pouring gasoline on another teen and setting him ablaze during what appeared to be a casual gathering at a campsite in the Ocala National Forest.

Disturbing Video Shows Deliberate Act

Bradey Ming of Anthony, Florida, was captured on video during the overnight hours of January 10-11 pouring gasoline from a bonfire onto a fellow teenager sitting in a chair near Lake Keer. The footage shows Ming laughing and asking his victim if he wanted to be set on fire before creating a gasoline trail that immediately ignited. The burning teenager ran into the lake to extinguish the flames while other teens fled the scene on jet skis.

Emergency responders transported the victim to a local hospital before transferring him to UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital in Gainesville for specialized treatment. Medical reports documented extensive injuries, including second- and third-degree burns covering the victim’s hands, legs, thighs, and backside, resulting in blisters, bleeding, and permanent skin discoloration.

Serious Criminal Charges Filed

Marion County authorities arrested Ming last week and charged him with aggravated battery, booking him into the Marion County Juvenile Justice Center. The charge reflects the severity of injuries inflicted and the deliberate nature of the attack. Florida law treats aggravated battery as a serious felony, particularly when involving minors and resulting in permanent disfigurement or disability.

Youth Violence and Accountability

This incident highlights growing concerns about youth violence and the dangerous combination of social media documentation and reckless behavior among teenagers. The fact that participants recorded and potentially shared such dangerous activity raises questions about supervision and accountability in unsupervised youth gatherings. Legal experts note that despite Ming’s age, the severity of injuries could result in adult charges if prosecutors determine the juvenile system inadequate for addressing the crime’s gravity.
