Decoding Elon Musk’s Political Moves: Lessons from Ron DeSantis?

Tech tycoon Elon Musk is receiving coaching from Ron DeSantis on how to increase his political clout, guiding him away from third-party politics and toward more practical means of changing Washington. Musk may be able to protect his business empire and increase his influence in American politics by following the Florida governor’s advice.

Political Mentorship for Business Success

DeSantis has emerged as a strategic advisor to Musk, offering insights on navigating the complex political environment in Washington. The relationship began to take shape when Musk hosted DeSantis’s presidential campaign launch on Twitter Spaces, an event that Musk himself described as “groundbreaking.”

DeSantis has consistently praised Musk’s entrepreneurial achievements, recognizing his potential to influence American politics. “I think Elon Musk has been one of the most innovative entrepreneurs, not just in our country’s history, but probably in world history,” DeSantis remarked, acknowledging Musk’s tremendous impact on multiple industries.

Strategic Advice Against Third-Party Politics

As Musk recently floated the idea of creating a new political party, DeSantis offered pointed counsel against this approach. The governor warned that third-party efforts typically fail to achieve meaningful change and instead help Democrats win elections by splitting conservative votes.

Instead of starting a new party, DeSantis suggested Musk focus on primarying establishment Republicans or supporting constitutional amendments. This advice reflects DeSantis’s understanding of the practical mechanics of American politics and his desire to see Musk’s influence channeled effectively.

Collaborative Efforts for Constitutional Reform

DeSantis has specifically encouraged Musk to leverage his influence toward structural reforms, such as a balanced budget amendment. “I don’t think just electing a few better people is going to change the nation’s trajectory,” DeSantis explained, advocating for constitutional amendments through state-led initiatives.

“You need to do a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution. You can do it through the states; you can do it through Article Five. We’ve got 28 states that have approved this. There are another four or five that are on the docket. Once you hit 34, then you write an amendment, and then the states are able to ratify that.”

The political partnership between Musk and DeSantis extends beyond mere advice. Generra Peck, DeSantis’s former strategist, now works with Musk on America PAC, a super PAC supporting Donald Trump’s election efforts through canvassing and voter turnout initiatives.

Their shared commitment to free speech principles has been evident since Musk’s initial attempts to acquire Twitter. DeSantis praised Musk’s Twitter acquisition as a move to enhance free expression, stating, “What Musk is trying to do is liberate it from being an agent of censorship into making it an actual open platform like it’s advertised.”

For business leaders and entrepreneurs watching this relationship, the lesson is clear. Political savvy is increasingly essential for business success, particularly in highly regulated industries like those where Musk operates.

As regulations tighten around electric vehicles, space exploration, and artificial intelligence, the guidance from politically experienced figures like DeSantis could prove invaluable. Their collaboration demonstrates how political alliances can help innovative businesses navigate government obstacles and secure favorable policy environments.
