International Delight Coffee Creamers Recall Due to Spoilage Reports and Illness Concerns

More than 12,500 cases of International Delight coffee creamers are being pulled from store shelves in a surprise recall that’s sparked concern across 31 states. Due to spoilage and illness reports, the recall involves popular flavors like Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll and Hazelnut. While Danone North America assures testing showed no immediate hazard, the FDA’s Class II designation suggests temporary health impacts could arise. What might this mean for coffee lovers nationwide?

Recall Details: A Closer Look

Over 75,000 bottles of the affected creamers, packaged in 32-ounce bottles, are being recalled. The recall affects the Cinnabon and Hazelnut flavors, which are identified with specific UPCs. Danone initiated the recall following consumer complaints of spoilage and illness. While the recall covers broad markets, including Florida, Texas, and New York, it spans 31 states.

Consumers are advised to dispose of the beverages if they fall ill after use. It is noticeable that the recall possesses a Class II designation by the FDA, pointing to potential temporary or medically reversible health consequences yet not posing a severe threat. The FDA and Danone made the announcement public on February 21.

Producer’s Precautionary Measures

Danone North America stated that the decision to recall was voluntary and made out of an abundance of caution. A representative for Danone noted, “While we know this is disappointing for our creamer fans, testing data has confirmed that this is not a food safety issue.” Additionally, the representative mentioned that they are working to resolve the texture problems experienced by consumers.

“We chose to voluntarily recall these isolated products out of an abundance of caution while we address the quality issue.” This recall underscores the company’s commitment to maintaining its high-quality standards despite the absence of significant risk to public health.

Consumer Guidance and Next Steps

Consumers in the affected states should check their cupboards for the two flavors with best-by dates of July 2 and July 3, 2025. The producing plant code is 51-4114 S. This precautionary recall remains active without a termination date. If consumers have purchased these products, they are advised to discontinue use immediately and contact the retailer for a refund.

This situation serves as a reminder of food producers’ rigorous measures to ensure consumer safety, even amid simple texture grievances. While it may inconvenience creamer enthusiasts, trust in the product’s safety in the future stands reinforced by this proactive action.
