Armed Illegal Immigrant Arrested Near White House

Secret Service officers prevented a potential assassination attempt against President Trump when they arrested an armed illegal immigrant just blocks from the White House on Thursday night, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Suspect Told Officers He Planned to Kill President

Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos, an undocumented immigrant from Venezuela, was taken into custody on Constitution Avenue near the Ellipse after agents noticed suspicious behavior. When confronted, Chrinos allegedly told Secret Service officers that voices in his head commanded him to travel to Washington and assassinate President Trump. Officers discovered three firearms in his vehicle, including a rifle, along with dozens of rounds of ammunition. The vehicle itself had been reported stolen, authorities confirmed.

Chrinos faces nine criminal charges, including three counts each of unlawful firearm transportation, carrying unregistered firearms, and carrying unregistered ammunition. Additional charges include possession of dangerous weapons, carrying a pistol without a license, unauthorized vehicle use, theft, and receiving stolen property. The arrest occurred in the 1600 block of Constitution Avenue Northwest, placing the armed suspect dangerously close to America’s presidential residence.

Border Security Failure Allowed Threat to Materialize

The Department of Homeland Security revealed that Chrinos entered the United States illegally through Texas in March 2024. Border Patrol agents arrested him at that time but subsequently released him into the country. This catch-and-release policy allowed an individual who would later threaten the President’s life to remain on American soil for over two years. No information was immediately available regarding whether Chrinos had legal representation or what his immigration status was during his time in the United States.

Officials Praise Quick Action by Trained Agents

Secret Service Director Sean Curran credited his personnel’s extensive training and experience with defusing a volatile situation that posed imminent danger to the President and other Americans. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin emphasized the gravity of the threat in his statement, thanking the brave Secret Service officers who stopped an illegal alien carrying three firearms before he could harm anyone. The seized weapons were photographed and documented as evidence in the ongoing investigation.

What This Means for Border Security

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about border security and the potential consequences of releasing apprehended illegal immigrants into the interior of the United States. The case demonstrates how failures in immigration enforcement can create serious national security threats, allowing individuals with criminal intent to move freely within the country until they pose direct dangers to American leaders and citizens. The arrest serves as a stark reminder of why secure borders remain essential to protecting American lives and constitutional government.
