Kyle Kennedy, granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy, died at age 42 after spending her final years paralyzed from a severe spinal cord injury that dramatically altered her life and work as an education advocate.
Career Devoted to Children’s Education
Kennedy built a distinguished career in early childhood education before her life changed in 2020. She earned master’s degrees from both Pace University in early education and Harvard in education policy. Her work began with two years in Teach for America, teaching in New York City public schools. She became a passionate advocate for charter schools and equitable elementary education, later working with technology companies to reform school curricula and coaching educators who worked with young students.
Burke Funeral Homes described Kennedy as possessing a formidable intellect, dry wit, and beauty. She devoted herself to raising her three children and supporting educational reform for disadvantaged children and people living with disabilities.
