A 16-year-old faces attempted first-degree murder charges after a violent confrontation inside a Baltimore convenience store left both him and a 41-year-old man with gunshot wounds. Surveillance footage captured the entire incident, which unfolded Wednesday morning just steps away from a city charter school.

Violent Confrontation Caught On Camera

Baltimore police responded to the 200 block of North Hilton Street around 10:47 a.m. Wednesday following reports of gunfire at a local convenience store. The store sits directly across from Green Street Academy, a charter school in the city. Surveillance video shows a person dressed entirely in black entering the store and reaching for a bag when a man in a white shirt suddenly rushed through the door and charged at him.

The footage captured a physical altercation that quickly escalated. During the struggle, the person in black produced a firearm. Both individuals fought while attempting to exit through the store’s entrance. The violent encounter resulted in both parties sustaining gunshot wounds, though investigators have not disclosed who fired first or whether multiple weapons were involved.

Two Victims, One Arrest

Responding officers discovered the 41-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his body near the scene. Emergency personnel transported him to a local hospital for treatment. Police located the teenager shortly afterward in the surrounding area with a gunshot wound to his arm. Medical staff treated his injuries at a hospital before authorities transferred him to the Central Booking intake facility.

Officers recovered a weapon during their search of the area. The Baltimore Police Department confirmed the teenager now faces attempted first-degree murder charges. Detectives have not announced whether additional charges are pending against either individual involved in the shooting. The store owner, who said the older man regularly shopped at his business, expressed shock at the violence and spent several hours cleaning before reopening Wednesday.

The proximity of the shooting to Green Street Academy raises concerns about public safety near educational facilities.
