Police attempted to separate the combatants, but two women remained locked in an intense physical altercation. Officers resorted to deploying pepper spray as the pair threw punches, pulled hair, and kicked at one another while ignoring commands to stop. At one point, one woman slammed into responding officers before falling onto their bicycles. Police handcuffed the woman as she continued resisting, repeatedly shouting profanities before appearing to throw another punch.
Fight Spreads Beyond Initial Confrontation
The incident involved more than just the women initially fighting. Officers detained a man who was face down on the hood of a car and broke up a separate altercation between two men on the pavement. Additional video footage appears to show how the confrontation began, with one woman confronting another while both waited in line at the taco restaurant. A man stepped in to defend one of the women during the verbal disagreement, leading to a physical fight between the men.
Another man intervened, pulling away one of the women who was choking someone and dragging her aside just as police arrived. A crowd gathered around the multiple confrontations, with several people watching and cheering as officers worked to restore order to the chaotic scene.
Questions Remain About Incident
San Diego Police Department has not released information about what sparked the initial confrontation or whether anyone sustained injuries during the melee. Authorities have not confirmed whether any arrests were made or if charges will be filed against those involved in the brawl. The department has not issued an official statement about the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing as officials review witness statements and video evidence from the scene.
